Description:

This interactive training program provides mental health professionals, coaches, and individuals seeking education in expressive arts therapy and trauma with a comprehensive understanding of holistic trauma healing approaches and practical tools to support clients affected by trauma.

Utilizing the Holistic Trauma Healing Card Deck, a unique and empowering resource, participants will learn how to integrate expressive arts therapy into their practice to promote holistic healing and resilience in the face of trauma. A downloadable card deck will be sent via email prior to the workshop.

Through a combination of presentations, discussions, and experiential exercises, participants will gain the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to facilitate trauma-informed care through holistic expressive arts practices.

Specifically, participants will learn how to use expressive arts tools such as: Creative writing and journaling to process traumatic experiences Visual art-making to express and manage emotions Mindfulness and meditation to reduce stress and anxiety Movement and dance to release tension and promote embodiment Music and sound to create a sense of safety and calm These expressive arts tools will enable participants to support clients in accessing and processing traumatic memories, managing emotions and behaviors, and fostering resilience and post-traumatic growth. 

This training is particularly relevant for mental health professionals, coaches, educators, healthcare practitioners, and anyone seeking to provide services to those affected by trauma, including those working with populations affected by sexual assault, sex abuse, as well as those in hospitals, schools, private practice, trauma recovery centers, and community organizations. By the end of this training, participants will be equipped to provide innovative and effective trauma-informed care, empowering their clients to heal and thrive.

Module 1: Introduction to Holistic Trauma Healing (1 hour)

Learning Outcome: Identify the key principles of holistic trauma healing and its application in expressive arts therapy, including the use of the Holistic Trauma Healing Card Deck.

Module 2: Mindfulness and Meditation (1 hour)

Learning Outcome: Learn how to use mindfulness and meditation techniques, in conjunction with the Holistic Trauma Healing Card Deck, to support clients in reducing stress and anxiety related to trauma.

Module 3: Creative Writing and Journaling (1 hour)

Learning Outcome: Learn how to use creative writing and journaling techniques, in conjunction with the Holistic Trauma Healing Card Deck, to support clients in processing traumatic experiences.

Module 4: Visual Art-Making (1 hour)

Learning Outcome: Learn how to use visual art-making techniques, in conjunction with the Holistic Trauma Healing Card Deck, to support clients in expressing and managing emotions related to trauma.

Module 5: Embodiment Practices (1 hour)

Learning Outcome: Learn how to use embodiment practices, in conjunction with the Holistic Trauma Healing Card Deck, to support clients in releasing tension and promoting embodiment.

Module 6: Music and Sound (1 hour)

Learning Outcome: Learn how to use music and sound techniques, in conjunction with the Holistic Trauma Healing Card Deck, to support clients in creating a sense of safety and calm.
