There is therapeutic value to be found in laughter.  When it is used as a tool for well-being, humor can bring people together, warm the process of discovery, and provide access to deeper, more transformative exploration.

Guided by a theoretical perspective that combines Polyvagal Theory with embodiment practices found in Drama Therapy, these sessions will lead participants through an expanding and informative workshop.

Course Activities

  • Background Exploration: A glossary of relevant terms and a review of pertinent literature
  • Therapeutic Improvisation: Bringing spontaneity grounded in aesthetic distance: the essence of humor as a tool
  • Storytelling: Utilizing both fictional and autobiographical stories to open and reveal issues that may not be available to the client, aiding in breaking with expectations, extracting and bolstering the exceptional narrative
  • Artmaking: Offering enhancement and a sense of containment to matters that are difficult to find words for.

Due to the precautions necessary to prevent the spread of the  COVID-19 virus, we have decided not to hold our workshops in the Studio. Since can’t accommodate the social distancing required by the authorities in our hands-on workshops, we are moving our in-person workshops online to be presented as an interactive webinar until we are certain we can safely offer you a creative, hands-on experience in our studio.

The Zoom link will be sent day prior to workshop; please check your spam/junk folder if you don’t see it!

Cancellation Policy: We require cancellation notification at least 2 weeks prior to the workshop date in order to use your registration fee towards a future workshop. No refunds will be given.

If you are outside of Washington State, we advise that you check with your state licensing board to confirm that they accept NBCC approved CEs.

This workshop offers 6 CEs in ethics for Mental Health Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Social Workers.
