This workshop is an introduction to how somatic and movement-based interventions can improve therapeutic attunement and client outcomes in session. The workshop will include opportunities to participate in four interventions and practice facilitating one somatic and one movement-based intervention. Participants will also receive facilitation handouts for each of the four interventions as well as a list of guiding questions for integration.

A willingness to engage in somatic and movement-based experientials is required. Personal experience with somatic or movement based therapy is not required, but can be helpful.

Learning objectives

1. Participants will understand how somatic and movement-based interventions improve therapeutic attunement.
2. Participants will identify and name cues that determine when a somatic intervention is appropriate.
3. Participants will experience two somatic interventions and two movement-based interventions in person.
4. Participants will practice facilitating at least one somatic and one movement-based intervention.
5. Participants will think critically about the role of clinician in providing accessible therapeutic interventions and understand the scope of safe engagement.

To receive a CE Certificate for completion of this workshop, you must officially register, attend the workshop in its entirety and complete an evaluation form after the workshop. The evaluation form is emailed to you by the following Friday of the workshop. After completing & submitting the evaluation form, a CE Certificate will be emailed to you within 5-7 business days.

• Washington State School Counselor/Teacher (OSPI) Approved by the Washington State Office of Public Instruction as a “Washington State approved clock hour offering workshop.”
