Welcome to the NWCEAI
We believe that Expressive Arts Therapy can change the world.
One student at a time.
Northwest Creative & Expressive Arts Institute is a non-profit organization that promotes the arts as a fundamental part of life. Art is truly for everyone. This is a core value we hold dearly, and it guides us in our growth. We believe we are all connected deeply to art, through culture, heritage, tradition, and ancestry.
The Expressive Arts make available all the creative arts. The opportunity to engage with more than one art form to express ourselves offers an authentic experience of depth, wholeness and integration, connecting to our humanity and the natural desire to create. Through creative arts modalities such as visual arts, movement, drama, poetry, and music, we explore the rich tapestry of our lives.
Perhaps you have an inner poet, potter, or weaver. Maybe you love taking photos, collaging vision boards, playing guitar. The arts help us to understand ourselves more fully, connect with others, find solutions, and make sense of the world. And there is no need to be a formally trained artist to engage and benefit from expressive arts practices. The arts offer possibility. Possibility offers hope. We imagine; we create.
The Expressive Arts also honor the learning, teaching, and practice of traditional arts. These art forms contain our ancestry; generations of creating for ceremony, storytelling, and survival. We can learn more about ourselves from exploring the traditional arts of our ancestors. We interweave our individual experiences by sharing them collectively, thereby strengthening our communities. Art can heal the great divide. There is freedom here; liberation in this expansive space of creativity and expression.
So, what does Northwest Creative & Expressive Arts Institute have in store for you?
Since 2015 we have offered continuing education workshops to therapists who have an interest in bringing art into their work and we continue to offer creative, dynamic, relevant programs both in-person and online. At the heart of our offerings are our Professional Training Programs. We now offer two different tracks, both for clinicians and for those who would like to facilitate expressive arts in schools, communities, as coaches, organizational leaders and more.
We have a growing list of amazing faculty, and bring our collective experiences, passion for this work, and our promise to make your experience working with us fulfilling, inspiring, and meaningful.
We have much more in store for you as we enter into our 10th Anniversary year! Please join our mailing list to get the latest info about our programs and feel free to reach out to us!
Art is Healing. We hope to share our work with you, and the individuals, groups, and organizations that you work with.
