Description:

Whether we’re trans, non-binary, cis-gendered, somewhere else on the spectrum, we all have experiences with navigating gender based on the social scripts we’re given throughout our lives. In this workshop, we will envision what our gender experiences could be outside of the narratives that we are told to believe about gender. We will use art, writing, and discussion to explore this.

Objectives:

This workshop is aimed at providing a space for clinicians to explore beyond the gender binary to support their clients who are trans, nonbinary, and exploring.

  • 1st hour – Explore external views of gender – The objective is for clinicians to examine
the messaging they have received about gender from external sources. This will ideally
help clinicians see what pressures their clients face in regard to gender.
  • 2nd hour – Discover internal views of gender – The objective is for clinicians to explore gender internally. This will ideally help clinicians think about their own clients who have
done this work and support them in their continued internal work.
  • 3rd hour – Discussion to synthesize learning, explore participants’ relationship to the gender spectrum. In examining their own gender identity and expression, they will hopefully be able to support their clients in doing the same.

Cancellation Policy: We require cancellation notification at least 2 weeks prior to the workshop date in order to use your registration fee towards a future workshop. No refunds will be given. read more…
