Available CEs: 6
Facilitator: Theresa Soltzberg, MA, LMFT, SoulPages® Facilitator

Registration Deadline: Wednesday prior to training.

SoulPages and GriefParticipants will apply SoulPages® art journaling methods as well as IFS parts work methodology learned from Parts 1 and 2 workshops and apply both to the stages of grief which include denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance as first introduced by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and David Kessler.

Participants will learn to approach engagements using IFS and SoulPages® art journaling, utilize resources to learn more, and continue learning about both processes and this combined approach.

In this workshop, participants will complete a basic art journaling spread from start to finish, using guided visualization to connect with an internal part and recognize it as separate from self. Participants will get to experience the elements of IFS parts work and the layering processes and techniques to then be able to pass along to clients.

The Internal Family Systems Approach involves connecting with the participant’s own system and a thought, feeling or sensation that they connect with as a part. Participants will un-blend from, and distinguish these parts as separate from Self and self qualities, such as compassion, curiosity and connection to increase their ability to relate to and integrate these internal parts in a positive and holistic way.

The application of grief work and the five stages naturally integrate parts work with parts showing up in the stages of grief such as anger, bargaining and depression. These parts protect us through crises, such as loss. Expressive arts is a powerful means for healing and self expression as well engaging right brain in complex trauma work.

Participants will be able to express their experience through exploration using a variety of materials including collage, paints, writing, line, ephemera, layering, movement, sound and other intermodal techniques. Each step will be guided with room for self-expression. No previous art experience is necessary.

The SoulPages® approach does not require art experience and is accessible to anyone, including those with no art experience. It involves collage, simple mark making and painting techniques, and includes writing and movement. We will be incorporating simple IFS work which can be built upon.

No prior experience is necessary.
