Here are this year’s picks for thoughtful, creative gifts that spark the imagination and add some joy to the season!

Creative Sunshine Art SetThis sweet little color pencil set comes in a cotton roll case with a button closure. So cute! Plus, it’s from the Unicef Market, so it’s also a donation to a good cause.

Floral Paint Palette My son got me this last year and I love it! It’s made of non-toxic resin encased with real pressed flowers! Very cool. I love that it’s reusable and easy to clean.

Yellow Paper House Junque Journal This is another great Etsy find! This genius spiral journal is chock full of assorted papers like cardstock, watercolor, mixed media, grid, lined, and more! No two journals are the same, which is appealing to the creative, for sure!

Cyanotype Supplies What’s cyanotype you ask? A cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. It involves coating a surface, like paper or fabric, with light-sensitive iron salts and exposing it to UV light, typically sunlight, using a negative or object to create an image. After exposure, the material is washed with water, and the blue image develops. Cyanotypes are known for their distinctive rich blue color and are one of the oldest photographic techniques, first used in the 1840s.

So, if that grabs you, Jacquard Products can set you up with some serious supplies. But you can also just get these easy to use Sunprint Kits!

Weaving and carving and felting, OH MY!  Bella Luna Toys has a fantastic selection of art and craft supplies. You’ll see a website geared towards kids, but…the grown-ups have to play too! Link to see my favorite beeswax crayons that made the list again. Then, keep exploring. I know you want to try needle felting a rabbit, am I right?

Handmade Honey Watercolors from the Great Northwest! I’m so excited that I found these gorgeous watercolors! Wow. I’m mean, just wow.

For the musically curious:

The Pan Flute is an instrument that is accessible, even for the beginner. It has such a sweet sound, and it’s very portable, so you can make music anywhere. I found this website that offers a ton of information, and even videos, so you can get started on your pan flute journey!

The Thumb Piano is also compact and easy to use. Music Therapist, Kim Atwood who teaches with us has one and finds it very relaxing. And we need some relaxation, don’t we? Yes. Yes, we do.

Fabriano Mixed Media Pad is my go-to paper for working with a variety of media, particularly when I am layering paint, drawing media, and collage. It can take it all! It’s a really nice quality paper, and with 150 sheets available you can create with abandon!

Our Bookshop.org Storefront has been updated with our 2024 Holiday List. There are a bunch of great children’s books, interesting selections on creativity, card decks, and more. And when you buy from our Storefront, you are not only helping independent bookstores around the country, but you’re also helping us out!

We hope this list has something on it that inspires or delights! From all of us at Northwest Creative & Expressive Arts Institute, we wish you and yours a peaceful and healthy holiday season.
