This hands-on workshop offers the participant some simple, yet powerful expressive arts tools for your youth to adult age clients. After attending this workshop, participants will be able to go right into the office and use suggested materials and activities with confidence.

The Expressive Arts can be used to enhance your existing your skills, whether problem-focused, action-oriented, or process-oriented.

Expressive Arts Therapy utilizes a multi-arts approach that focuses not only on the product, but the process of creativity and art-making.

The tools presented in this workshop are designed so that even with limited resources and space a clinician can have a variety options.

This workshop offers 6 CEs.

Learning objectives

  • Participants will take away working knowledge of Expressive Arts Therapy, including: how expressive arts therapy is defined, the general philosophy and approach.
  • Participants will be offered a primer on the use of basic art materials, and how to choose appropriate materials.
  • Hands-on experiential learning will offer participants immediate working knowledge of simple expressive arts activities that they can use with their clients right away.
  • Participants will learn how to work with a multi-modal arts approach.
  • Participants will have an understanding of how and when to use expressive arts activities appropriately with their clients, to enhance their skills.
