In this advanced course, participants will continue to learn and apply techniques to support complex trauma clients with the PArts Work Approach, which combines expressive arts therapy with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. Through experiential exercises, participants will continue to learn how expressive art journaling combined with internal family systems supports complex trauma clients, utilizing right and left-brain integration, in addition to other benefits of right brain healing work.
Participants will dive deeper into the IFS system building on previous knowledge and learning techniques such as working with protectors who cannot unblend from a client. It will include further training for the process of how to work with therapist parts in relationship to supporting client parts, working with polarized parts, and how to work with exiles attending to the client’s system & readiness.
In this training, participants will complete an expressive arts visual art journaling spread based on the SoulPages method. This will include using guided visualization and connecting with the participant’s own system and their polarized parts. Participants will be able to express their experience through exploration using a variety of materials including collage, paints, writing, line, ephemera, layering, movement, sound and other intermodal techniques. Each step will be guided with room for self expression. No previous art experience is necessary.
